Depends on the cigar for me. If it's something like the last stick in a box they won't reorder, I'll save it for awhile. Or if it's something I can't get with ease or get quickly then it goes in the humidor and rests for as long as I feel.

Generally, a few days to weeks depending on the smoke though for me.

If I go into a humi and there is something obviously wrong in there (ex: I've walked in and found obvious mold issues on several cigars in a relatively well known B&M in my state that also sells online), I won't buy (and therefore nor will I smoke) a stick out of their stock. If they can't take care of their cigars, why would I hand them my hard earned cash?

On the other hand, I have a local B&M that I frequent quite often (like 3-4 times a month if not more), and do purchase cigars there, often boxes of product at events etc- because I know they are aware of how to handle their stock, they are helpful in introducing new smokes to me (and sometimes me to them) and because like any other business they need money to stay afloat and I ENJOY HAVING A *NICE* PLACE TO SMOKE in my hometown area.

You guys that say you never buy from a B&M... is that because they all suck where you live (or in some cases the one that you have sucks), or just because you don't feel it's worth it to pay a 10-15% premium, even if you have a cool place to hang? Just curious.

I'm pretty obsessive about keeping The Cigar Room's humi at around 69-70% RH. I check the temp and RH at least 4-5 times a day and make the appropriate changes.

But I agree with general sentiment that it depends on the B&M. If I buy from Spec's (which I rarely do anymore) I rest at least a week to raise the RH of the cigar, since I regularly find that their humis are usually in a state of neglect.
