Nate, what a shock, for you, your wife and your children....but now is the time to stay strong and focused, now is the time that the family will need you the most.

As has already been offered, if I can do anything for you please let me know.

Moving sucks. Sorry to hear about the sudden move. You and your family will be in our prayers. I have a great friend in the AF that just moved back to the states after a 2 year stint in Japan. He and his family enjoyed the time spent over there. Hope the move goes smooth and easy for you.

Dude....a new chance to eat some crazy chit. You know they have good meat on a stick. And except for having the ones you love most nearby, there is not much better than some meat on a stick. Silver linings abound

Sorry to hear the bad luck bro. It could always be worse! I'm currently deployed to Iraq, and my battalion already has plans to be back in Afghanistan just a touch over a year after getting back from this trip. The year that I will be in the states will have 3 months spent at Fort Rucker away from my friends family.

I hope everything works out for you bro. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts/prayers.

Sorry to hear that bro. Of course you weren't planning on it so it does seem shocking, but things will be just fine. Just try to keep an open mind and in years you and your family will look back on your journey and will have fond memories.

Look on the bright side... maybe they won't get NFL games and you won't have to torture yourself watching the Vikings and thinking they actually have a chance at the Super Bowl!?! (full disclosure so I don't sound like a douche, I'm a Vike fan too)

Man that is a real bummer but on the bright side there are a lot worse places to wind up than japan. Stay strong and remember god never gives us more than we can handle.

Nate, sorry to hear that you have to make a big move and leave family behind. I also feel that God opens and closes doors of opportunity and we must be willing to walk through those doors to be blessed with great experiences. Good luck and keep us posted.

NJ, I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances revolving around the AF. On the bright side, it will be a new experience, and one you'll remember forever. With access to CCs, it will make the stay a little more enjoyable! I've been to Japan a couple of times, and both Tokyo and Osaka rocked! Where will y'all be? Okinawa, or somewhere different? Good luck with the move bro!

Nate - sorry to hear about the forced move. Hopefully the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by an incredible experience living in such a foriegn land!

I too would find the family part most difficult - I'm pretty close with most of my family in general (except my bro's girlfriend...), but I'll visit my parents or vice versa at least once every other month. (300 miles apart). It's far enough that we don't hassle each other, we get along great & appreciate each others company, yet it's also not too far to hop in the car & get there in about 5 hours.

Anyway - good luck on the move & please report back your progress & experience!
