almost all of my cigars have come banded; however, some of the rarest and oldest smokes I have been able to find have come unbanded. I located some punch RS no. 11 from early '01 that wouldnt have had bands anyways, I couldnt be happier with them.
Unfortunately a couple of the very best and most respected vendors that deal in properly stored vintage Habanos will only ship band less but will ship the original boxes and bands separately. The Vendor I use most vacuum packs the cigars in freezer bags and ships overnight delivery. The cigars are always delivered in perfect condition. It always amazes me how the remove the bands without destroying them or the wrapper. I've ordered over thirty boxes from them this year and have not had one damaged cigar yet. Since I'm never going to sell any of my cigars I don't bother with putting the bands back on but it's nice to put them back in the original box......I care not to venture into band less land. Risk of damage to the wrapper and the issue of trust being the foremost reasons.
A very good point. I trust the bandless vendor greatly. I would not buy bandless from an unknown company.I care not to venture into bandless land. Risk of damage to the wrapper and the issue of trust being the foremost reasons.
SteammmmmmmmmI haven't fully mastered the art of taking off a band without cracking the wrapper of the cigar. Ah well...
Ayup.Depends on how much I trust my source. Bands dont really add flavor.:nodlaugh:
One of my favorite vendors, with lots of good aged stuff, will not ship intact. Those cigars taste mighty good. The boxes, original or not, make good kindling for my fireplace.
Only if you eat them.i thought bands did add flavor--but only if you smoke em down that far
