Today was a stellar day. Bourbon County Stout was in order for Kockroach's bday. Big Bear Black Stout finished the day's libations. If you find BCS, buy it!!!

Oakshire overcast again with my toast.
2011 Vertical Epic this evening. This is the third of these I've had, and the first on a truly clear head. My opinion of this years epic is waning a little. Not a bad beer, per se, but maybe trying to hard to be interesting, whilst losing some drinkability.

Hell man I had the VE '11 on draft after a couple beers and could tell it was a crappy beer. Too much stuff going on. The flavors don't mesh well for my palette.

Had Abita Christmas ale last night. Pretty tasty. Also tried the shiner Christmas ale, wasn't bad but couldn't hold a candle to the Abita.
I thought the Abita christmas ale was pretty good as well. Then again I'm partial to anything Abita because it's about all i can get...

DFH 90 minute tonight. Just got back from John's Market in Portland, pretty much mecca for beer in Oregon, but none of it is cold. Will post pics of my haul in that other thread later.

Have you been to Belmont Station Dude?

I've been meaning to go to John's and have heard good things, but I do a lot, if not most of my specialty brew shopping at Belmont.

Belmont station has a phenomenal selection. But my buddy's house is about 5 minutes from John's, and I'd driven up there to buy a gun from him. John's was just a crime of convenience.

If you've never been, you gotta check it out. Pretty unassuming from the outside, just looks like a large, older convenience store. But there selection may actually be equivalent to Belmont, and I think their prices are better. Plus, it means less driving in the Portland Metro area for me, which in turn means lower blood pressure. Us country folk get sorta uppity with the Portland set.

(Got a gun, and 12 excellent beers today. Things are looking up!)

Yup...I'll definitely hit up Johns then soon Dude!

For me tonight...a couple Steins of Ayinger Celebrator on draft at a German restaurant. Never had before, but it was excellent...especially with my schnitzel!

I think that if you buy that in bottles, it comes with a tiny, plastic goat. Pretty sure its the Celebrator. And you're right, it is excellent.
-Dude
(Bought this the first time because of the plastic goat.)
