Stone's Homefront IPA ... Wish I could share this with you brothers! It's amazing and very very hoppy! If you can find it I definitely recommend it. Once I get bottles .... Bombs incoming!
All day ipa by founders if you can get it.I would like to ask for some advice, or more of a pointing in the right direction type of thing, without being smacked around and laughed at too much. I would like to venture into the craft beer/IPAs, but have no clue where to begin. My main beer for years has been Bud Light (I know, I know). I also enjoy Tecate, Dos XX Lager, and Corona when making michiladas or as they come. I've tried to venture out on my own with very little success. I do like the Shock Top Raspberry Wheat and Lemon Shandy (this one more than the raspberry). I have purchased and tried Dog Fish Head 90 minute Imperial, Ballast Point Sculpin, and Tangerine Wheat beer. I didn't care for the DFH or IB at all and the TW was just ok (wouldn't purchase again at this point). Can someone please point me in the right direction of what you think that I might enjoy? I have a BevMo and the base liquor store close by, and they both have pretty decent selections. I've also noticed pretty decent selections at Trader Joes and Sprouts. If anyone would like the remaining 5 bottles of the DFH, IB, or TW, pm me your addy and I'll get them to you. @FullyArmedFISD was gracious enough to send me some Not Your Fathers Root Beer that I'm saving for the moment, so that will be my next venture. Thanks in advance!
The Sculpin is personally one of my favorite IPAs and the 90 min is also pretty decent. Super hoppy and overly bitter beers are my favorite though and those two beers are super hoppy and not what you would call "balanced". If you can find Bells Two Hearted, that is what I call a "gateway IPA" it is hoppy enough to be an IPA but has enough malt sweetness to balance it out. It took me a while to get into IPA but I can't get enough now. Instead of IPA it may work better for you to try stouts or porters. Founders Porter is world class and also an excellent beer to pair with cigars. If you prefer sweet drinks, a Scotch Ale like Oskar Blues Old Chub is another great beer to try. Left Hand Brewings Nitro Milk Stout is another great beer that is easy to put away. Feel free to ask any questions brother. I'm easily reached on pm too.I would like to ask for some advice, or more of a pointing in the right direction type of thing, without being smacked around and laughed at too much. Glad you are finding things you like brother! Don't sweat if you can't get into IPA. Too many good beers out there to worry about it. For a good pool beer pick up Bells Oberon. That is a great summer beerGoing with this one first
