Have any of you felt underwhelmed by the BHKs? I have a box that's been with me since 2012. Tried one after a week. Meh, it was alright. I've had 3 more since. And had another last Nov 11, my birthday. Again, it was alright. Very dissapointed cause I so wanted it to blow my mind. Good thing the family and the drinks were great.

I keep them in the original box, which is then inside a 68% tupperware. In a temp controlled room of 20*celcius.

Any thoughts fellas? Is it just me?

I tried a 54 in Montreal and was underwhelmed. I have a 52 in my travel humi I plan to burn this evening so I'll report back.

I will say I feel 68 is too high. I am a 65 guy myself but I know others go even lower especially with cc

Yeah I've read that a lot. I tried 65 before and my cigars kept cracking at the head when I cut. So i moved up a little.

Yeah I'd try lowering the RH to even like 60....that's what I shoot for. Admittedly though I do actually sit around 64 but the lower the better when it comes to CC's IMO.

You guys don't crack the heads while cutting? Seemed to happen to me alot when I was at 65. Or something like the cap separating from the cigar like the glue dried up. Not all the time, but now its not happening at all at 68.

Will try lowering again. Hopefully they'ed be ready by next year. I understand I should do this for all my CCs right?

Interesting thing though is that it doesn't happen to my NCs when they were at 65. Though I also raised those to 68 since then.

Lana...Lannnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I have the Aristocrat set at 62.2, never get a crack when cutting sticks, I also have started just popping off that last cap, just the thinnest slice.

I've had some pretty bad Fauxhikes in the past, but the legit 54 is a spot on stick to me.

I calibrated it several times using the salt test over ther years. I have several Hygroset 2s and an Adorini Synthetic Hair Analog Hygrometer. The Analog is more accurate than the digital ones that I have.

I may have to order the Boveda calibration kit just to be extra sure.

I used to use a Xikar but I found it hard to use with my spindley fingers. I end up ruining the cut. So i switched to Cuban Crafters perfect cutter. Works like a charm with me. Although the xikar is sharper. You can feel the difference when you snip.

Hmmmm. MayBe I'll try to wet the tip aswell. Or better yet, have the wife wet it eh? Eh?;)

I went through a box of 54 that sat at 65/65 and I was unimpressed. I came across another box and followed the advice of another BOTL to lower the RH. They now rest at 60RH and the first one I smoked was excellent. Both boxes were dated from 2011. Hope that helps.

I've liked the one or two I've had immensely and I usually don't love Cohibas over 46 rg.
