Thanks everyone -- adding to the excitement is that a lifelong friend of mine decided to come down from Davis, California and bring cigars.

I've been home all week on "vacation" days I need to use this year. Yesterday was carpet cleaning. Today is planting and yard work. Of course my wife has come up with other stuff to do inbetween.

I am studing bibical hebrew and it is extrenly difficult so I can imagine how it is without the vowels! I know you are proud of your son and he will be a fine man someday!

Thanks, everyone. Josh did great (my genes I'm sure) and we had a great time partying afterward with friends and relatives. Even though I'd been watching him practice and knew that he knew everything, it was amazing to see him standing there and reading from the Torah. (Yes, as Sgresso said, it's written in Hebrew script without vowels. And Josh was taught (which I never was) to chant it rather than just reading it. Quite an accomplishment. It was especially significant to me to see some from out of town who I didn't expect to be there, including one who's literally been a friend of mine since infancy and was at my Bar Mitzvah a few years :) ago.
