Who uses it? My bank is now offering it free to keep up with competitors. I added my mortgage company and electric company into my payees and plan on trying it out at the end of the month.

Was curious about who is is using it?

If I can ever get my money situation more stable I would use it. . . I end up paying out the butt in late fees. Right now though I'd worry that the money wouldn't be in there.

I have been using bill pay for about 3 years now.. I just do not let it automatically pay the bills... I prefer to do it manually.

The hardest part is the first month... you should follow up with all of your creditors to verify that they received the payment just as a backup. Once you know they all received it, it will be cake from there.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Paying manually and checking at the end of the first trial to make sure payments were received.

I pay the majority of my bills online but I do it through the various company websites rather than using billpay through the bank. Is there an advantage to using billpay?

Pay just about everything with it, also for 3+ years. Haven't had a problem...yet.

I prefer to do manual pay while my wife has some that are auto pay.

I have used it for about that long as well... Half of my bills are on auto-pay while I like to keep the rest manual....

I think the biggest advantage is that if something gets screwed up, most banks fix it and there is no problem. It is also much easier to have everything done in one location with one source.

I've been paying online for 5 years now. I use their e-bill system to get the bill, then I manually pay at the first and middle of the month. I put some auto payments on the credit card for the mile earning portion, then pay it off each month. I can make a checkbook last over a year! 25 checks used to go about 2 weeks...love it!

Same story here - been using online bill pay for about 5 years now - can't imagine doing it otherwise anymore. About 3 or 4 of my bills are automatic and the rest I send manually. Never had any problems here either.

I have been using it for a few years now.
I have every thing set up in the system for every creditior.
The bills that are the same every month are set up on automatic.
It is the most convenient way to do it. Just the postage savings alone makes it worth it. About 5 bucks a month for my bank.

I just signed up for it a couple weeks ago. Worked good so far on manual payment. I'll switch to automatic eventually...I hate writing checks.

I just signed up last month :blob:. No more writting checks much for me unless I have to. Damn near everything will be automatic withdraws or billpay from now on. I still like writing the check for my daughter 529 prepaid college trust fund, that is my pride making me do it.

For the past couple of years, we've been switching our bills over to having direct payment from our checking account to each company. Love it! My wife just reviews the statements from electric, water, mortgage, etc and writes them into the register. Most companies now have autopay systems.....
