I've always digged strong and deep flavored cigars. I feel like it's like a piece of dark chocolate or red wine. All that darkness translates to a whole lot of flavor depth.

You sure do need to try it Glassman. In fact what size is the one in your cooler? The Robusto is especially delicious. Have you had the JDN Antaño in Gran Consul? And have you tried the La Herencia Cubana CORE?




Haha Jay you need to educate me on the different Cuban brands. I've never even heard of the Robina...... Im back to feeling like a noob again. Lol.

I can understand your preference for heavier smokes. NCs on that darker shades and full bodied are their better offerings in my opinion.

CCs will give you that depth and nuance on a more subtle manner. They aren’t the strongest but in my opinion they are the best. There are some 33 Markas of CCs but I would just start with the Flagship brands- Cohiba, Montecristo, H Upmann and Hoyo De Monterrey. The thing is aging is really important on CCs and a new Cuban might not smoke well at all. Most need 2-3 years to be good. They aren’t even considered aged until 5 years. But you will learn.

Cohiba is the flagship brand and is quite different from all the other Cubans. It undergoes a third fermentation that gives it a very unique and pleasant flavor. It's difficult to describe but it's a creamy buttery taste that I have found in no other cigar. Its the most famous brand and has many fake fraudulent cigars that have the Cohiba Label complete with Habana, Cuba on the band. Make sure you get these from a verified Habanos vendor. There are endless threads on fake Cohibas here on BOTL. But the imposters are getting better, but a telltale sign is the Dots on the band. Fakes have dots that don't align perfectly with band many times. But if you get the real deal Cohibas they are a treat, but they are also the most expensive brand. Make sure they get some age on them so they reach their potential. Good Luck
