The Sublime (2004 EL) is one of the most heavily counterfeited Cohiba, especially in the Caribbean and Mexico. What Ryan posted is right on the money. The wrapper is not Cuban tobacco, the cap is not clean, and the stock quality on the bands is not very good. This is without the kiss of death of the pierced C.The band is terrible, the c in Cuba should not pierce itself. This cigar is about $80-100 and I doubt you paid that. One of the benefits of this forum is the amount of knowledge, so please don't take offense to this, but don't buy anything else from wherever you picked up the Cohiba. It's not real, and definitely not habano leaf. Since you mentioned you enjoyed one recently I will include that in the return package if you like. I will include something in the return which will give you a better idea of what to be looking for taste wise when dipping into forbidden fruit...I will do my best to get it out by Saturday and will reuse your bovida. I don't want anyone to think I don't appreciate a brother giving up something he covets, which is why I am going to send something real so he can experience the difference for himself. Though it won't be a Sublime... I've never seen a real one of those in person. Ha.
We've all bought or been given fakes before. If you think you haven't it's likely because you smoked the evidence... BOTL and the members here have taught me a ton about habanos (and I still don't know jack), and this is a learning experience for everyone.
