So most of my liquid calories come from beer or scotch. I frequent the many varieties of dark beer, especially stouts and porters. When I drink straight liquor, its usually my 15y glenfiddich. But last weekend my aunt-in-law (is that a thing??) poured some honey bourbon over berries and it was awesome. My wife wanted to do that too, but I didn't want a bourbon that was just good over berries. I want something palatable.

Can anyone suggest a really good bourbon or honey bourbon? I have a $50 gift card to the local liquor store, but won't mind paying a small amount more.

Thanks,
Jon

Depends on whether you want to spend that entire card or not on bourbon. My go to is Woodford Reserve. But Makers 46 is very good. If you want to go a little more Blantons is also very good. When I'm drinking bourbon cheaper Four Roses Small Batch or Buffalo Trace.

My go to is Knob Creek which is around 45 a bottle here. A cheaper alternative is the already suggested Buffalo Trace which drinks way easier than the price tag would suggest which is around 24 bucks. I've been on a single malt Scotch kick for quite awhile, but may have to try some Bourbon over berries, sounds interesting, kinda hairy buffalo'sh. Oh the memories.

I love Bookers but it's right around the 50 buck mark here in Shreveport. Not to mention the strength will get a lot of people. Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig 12yr are great everyday bourbons and right in the mid 20 buck range. Hope this helps.

If you like the Buffalo Trace, give Elmer T. Lee a try. It's a higher end small batch made by the same distillery. Smoother and sweeter than Buffalo Trace, and one of, if not the best, under $30 bottles out there. It's my current "go to".
Yep that or the eagle rare ... Also second on the woodford reserve (especially double Oaked) and the knob and makers ...just to get your feet wet

I'm a big fan of Bulleit, a $50 gift card would cover a bottle and leave you room for a dent in a bottle of something else. Their Rye is fantastic too.

Totally agree. Woodford and Blantons are by far the way to go. I'm an avid bourbon drinker too. For the price you really can't beat either.

Lots of great bourbons out there. My go to has been Rowans Creek for a while. Always enjoy it when choosing bourbon
