Well, it took 15 hours, 7am to 10pm, to install all the railing posts and all but 16 boards worth of decking.

I do not envy anyone that does this type of work day in and day out.

The 16 boards, the 2x4's, ballisters, and caps for the railng, and the stairs w/railings.

My parents extended their stay 'till tomorrow morning...dad is hard at work right now. I bought him a 14volt DeWalt Drill/Circular Saw combo as a thank you.

What, no lighting??? :waving: (if you want to do some low voltage rail lights, I have a cool idea that works well.)

Man. you are a good son! That is a nice gift. But if you are like me, it is more than worth it to have the help and expertise. A deck is a tough project if you are going to do it right and by the looks of your smoking stash....you are definitely going to do it right.

Cant wait to see the pictures Todd.

I had my deck built about 2 years ago..(I am very unhandy with tools, even more so with power tools) It is about the same size as yours. I had it built around the hot tub.

I smoked my first habano...a monte 4 ,2 years ago this week while sitting on the frame of the deck.

Todd, I glad to here your deck project if finished up....building projects can be some of the best self gradification ( other than sex ) for most men... Good to have experenced help, it sure is tough tearing apart stuff that you nailed together from simple mistakes....I know when I started as a carpenter, I made my share.....I good to be able to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor and a fine cigar...now you have both....I'm sure a job well done :applause: :applause:

Thanks guys.

That's a bungee cord that was holding the gate shut Brian.

The lights and railing are required by code. I am installing a flood light to meet the code as the solar powered lights aren't really to spec.
