What the Hell, You're on Vacation right?

Buy all the damn cigars you want and worry about it when you get home.
You can always work more to pay off the debt to incurred on vacation, but you will never have that vacation back and regretting you didn't do something that would make that experience better is just what you don't want to do. Trust me on that one. Though I'm young, I wish I would have spent more money on the trips my wife and I went on instead of worryng about the cost. My advice, cut back on your day to day things (if you have too), and enjoy your vacation.
Absolutely! I tend to overthink stuff like this, but now that I'm over the initial sticker shock, it really is hard to put a price tag on experiences. I'll be sure to take several pictures and post them.

Like the old cigar smoker once told me about a high priced, rare stick..........I don't know if their worth it, but that's what it cost to smoke one.

Don't use credit cards if possible. Maybe I'm just paranoid but that is the way that folks have been tracked down (supposedly). If you buy with cash, there's no way to know where you're from or what you bought.

I'm amazed at the prices you'll pay in Mexico. I haven't been there in years. It seems a little cheaper in Europe. I hope you have fun there. Enjoy some good smokes. The previous recommendations are good. The Bolivar Royal Corona is good, as is the Montecristo #2. I'd add one of the large size Cuaba's too. If you go for one of the Romeo y Julietas, try the "short churchill," it's one of their top sticks and it's only been out a year or so.

From what I hear the Frescos are mild to medium bodied ... so I'd suggest checking out an El Rey Del Mundo or Hoyo de Monterrey. And have fun in Cancun!

Checking back in guys. Cancun was a blast!

I ended up going with a Partagas Serie P No. 2 on the recommendation from Josh at The Cigar Nation (Podcast). We're practically neighbors (MN/WI) and I dig the podcast, so we swapped a few emails and he suggested this particular smoke on the condition that the Cubans don't really age their cigars like everyone else before sending them off to be sold. Seeing as this stick would be lit up the same day, he has had good experience with said stick, so I followed his advice.

Unfortunately, the whole experience was a bit anti-climactic. My wife was becoming impatient in LCdH while I was oogling over all the "contraband" so I quickly asked for the Serie P No. 2 and we were on our way. Oh well, can't always have our cake, huh?

Fast forward to the main event. We're out on our balcony with a gorgeous view of the Caribbean Sea, I've got a cold XX beer, a pour of scotch and an hour or so of pure enjoyment ahead of me... Then it all goes south. The rain starts up, the cigar was burning like crap and tasted even worse. I had anticipated this moment for so long...you know, just like with any "first", you expect it to be perfect so when it falls short it's really a bummer. I smoked it down about 2 inches and put it out in frustration.

On a brighter note, the trip as a whole was incredible. Snorkling tours, swimming with dolphins, lots of eating, drinking, and other typical honeymoon stuff.

Has anyone heard of the Andreas brand made in San Andreas, Mexico? I smoked two of those on the beach and they were fantastic!

Thanks to all who watched me fumble through this endeavor and shared advice. It was appreciated.

Sorry to hear your cigar smoking experience turned south. I would have hardly recommended the PSP#2 as your first foray into cubans. C'est la vie but somehow me thinks you'll have another first foray that'll turn out much better :smokingbo

Yeah, overall no regrets. The vacation was phenominal, so in hindsight this was just a slight hiccup since CC wasn't the focal point of the trip. That would have been a shame...
