With the exception of the Camacho, last year's top 10 was pretty good as a whole (without referencing what actual number it was).

The Warlock to me is simply proof of 2 things: The advertising conspiracy and that smoking only the first 1/2 to 1 inch of a cigar is NOT the way to make a top 25. I seriously almost crashed my car driving to work when I saw that this morning.

It's really not a good idea to play on the internet while driving.

You misread that. They mean that the faux-boutique image doesn't indicate good or bad taste. Marketing aside, they thought the cigar tasted good.

Viaje had CA's #1 cigar last year and they love Illusione, so obviously they don't think boutique cigars taste bad.

I didn't REALLY misread it... just attacking their wording. Although knowing how they seem to feel about Tatuaje, and reading their comments on the Warlock again, it can definitely be interpreted as them trying to tell people that "Boutique brands with edgy looks[Tatuaje] aren't delicious."

I can't say anything for certain, hence why I said "how they SEEM to feel about Tatuaje," but IMHO CA just doesn't seem to care for Pete, from what I've noticed. Someone on the first page of this thread mentioned the amount of advertising he does with them, which I'm assuming is nothing (or close to it), which would make sense. If you type "Pete Johnson" in the search box on CA's website, the most recent article you get is summer 2009, which also seems a bit odd all things considered. Heck, if you look at CI's Year in Review issue, they only reviewed The Wolfman and a few of the Faustos; it's almost like they're ignoring his brand.

I don't really care either way... I'd just expect them to say more about the brand.

Then again... I typically pay CA no mind. The fact that they rated the Dirty Rat as an 88 is what drove the nail in that coffin.

Could be a very interesting list. As already posted, I've never even heard mention of anything good about Warlock cigars, so like everyone else, very surprised to see it on there.

edit: to be fair, i keep trying altadis releases, i do. and i have a 90% dissapointment rate, with the other 10% being "could smoke, but there is other stuff". and ortez and turrent both, i just do not get along with, palate wise. this was one of their better ones, sort of...

Ok, well since you haven't contributed much else to this thread, and being that Ligas and Tats "aren't that good," how do you see the top 7 falling? I'm interested in your opinion on what the best cigars of the year were.

The cigars that should make the list that won't..... Tatuaje Avion, Illusione MK Ultra and Tatuaje LCC.

Cigars that will make the top ten : expensive padron, expensive cohiba (BHK or 1966) and random budget cigar only 6 people enjoy.
