I found a post in the forums on cigar and wine pairings, but I'm not a wine drinker. I like my beer. I was wondering (and I'm sure there are) if there were other BOTL brothers who like to pair their cigars with beer? Curious to see what your opinions would be for good cigars to pair with the following beers:

1.) Guiness
2.) Boulevard Wheat
3.) Boulevard IPA (or any IPA for that matter)
4.) Samuel Adams Black Lager
5.) Schlafly Coffee Stout

Both the Boulevard and Schlafly are regional brews so not sure how far you can get those. What's your favorite pairing??

Nice to see a shout out to the beer out there, besides you cant always have liquor and wine on a warm summer day while smoking a stick.

Id have to go with:
1. New Glaurus Spotted Cow
2. New Glaurus Staghorn
3. Sprecher Special Amber
4. chimay (Blue or White)
5. New Belgium 1554

The first three are micro brews in wisconsin and tough to get outside the state, but defiantly worth making the effort to get.

I've had the New Belgium 1554, quite a tasty brew. I'll keep those New Glaurus in mind if I'm in the neighborhood or something.

I love enjoying a good micro brew with a Cigar. I tend to like my beer the same as I like my Cigars; Medium body, full flavor. Im a huge IPA and Double IPA fan, as well as brown ales. Michigan has A LOT to offer when it comes to great micro brews. If you can find them, these are, in my opinion, some Great beers...

Founders Brewing Company:
Centennial IPA
Double Trouble Double IPA

Shorts Brewery:
Huma Lupa Licious IPA
Good Humans dry hopped double brown

Bells Brewery:
Hop Slam IPA
Bell's Best Brown ale

Theres a lot im sure Im leaving out but these are just some great beers Ive had lately. Im no expert when it comes to pairing, but I just enjoy beer with cigars, and those are some beers I REALLY enjoy.

You left the New Glaurus Fat Squirrel off the list. Great brewery but super tough to get out of Wisconsin.

Paired the Fat Squirrel up with a Padron 45 maduro Superbowl Sunday. Nice pair.

I love a good Hefeweizen (wheat) - Widmer Brothers, Flying Dog "In Heat" Wheat and Shiner Bock Hefe.

When it comes to a good Stout - Lion Stout and Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout.

Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron is real good too.

I tend to prefer Belgium Ale's w/ cigars. Delirium Tremens, Duvel, La Chouffe are a few of my favorites.

I'm partial to a wheat beer with my stogie. My fav's would be Shiner wheat, leinenkugel sunset wheat, and widmer hefe-wizen.

Ive never been the biggest fat squirrel fan, but much of their other stuff i am a big fan of. I hear they have a new light honey bock that is pretty good. And as for getting it outside of the state its near impossible. I have talked to the president himself and asked him how i could get it in boston and he told me to rent a van and drive it out :) haha. Make sure to try sprecher out of milwaukee because they do some awesome beers including a black bavarian ale that is unbelievable.

In heat Wheat is one of my favorites as well, Larry. Great wheat w/ a lot of "bready" flavor.

The very act of reading about that black bavarian ale made my tounge tingle :hearteyes. I'm sure it's awesome and would justify a road trip...

Some great suggestions guys, most of which I've never had. Sadly my main smoking ground is a local bar and usually "the guys" only get together on dollar draw nights, which means it's Bud Light that gets paired with my cigar. Can't wait for this cold weather to leave so I can light up on the back deck!

I too need to broaden my horizon on the not so common or main stream beers. I usually prefer my cigars paired with a good bourbon but I do like my beer and have to find some that pair better with cigars. Some cigars are Ok with beer but I find sometimes certain beers detract from certain cigars while others not as much. I guess that’s just part of the whole pairing experimentation and the above suggestions would be a good place to start.
