If you bought a cigar from a shop a year ago and haven't darkened the door since, obviously the folks working there aren't going to remember that. What if you bought it from that shop a year ago? You have to carry proof?
you can only smoke what you bought that day hereRight I understand being supportive but I was strictly speaking in reference to the laws in those states...
i agree with this^its bad form to smoke there but not buy.
a lot of times i bring a smoke from my humidor there, because some b&ms run too humid for my liking.
I've never experienced that at the Sterling Heights place. I mean obviously you shouldn't smoke what you didn't buy there, but the reality is that it's not really the same thing as a traditional bar. Regardless of what people say... Most here have or do smoke their own and likely sometimes without buying any that time.I usually buy a cigar or drink if offered at the shop, however, I usually smoke my own cigars because they are kept perfect. The other day I was visiting the Cigar Factory Outlet in Royal Oak MI, a new branch that just opened. They had a cigar happy hour that started about 20 min after I arrived where you buy one get one free. I lit up what I had waiting for the clock to strike 330 to make a few purchases when the GM came over and lit into us for smoking our own cigars. I said I was waiting for the specials to start to buy, which I did. But he was so rude that I will not go to any of their locations ever again. I buy tons of cigars from this place, but they essentially lost all of my business. They were trying this new buy it here and smoke it here and enforcing it which made the whole situation very uncomfortable.
I go to jenuwine all the time and never had a problem. Granted I've never walked in and lit up I always purchase first then smoke. I'd say give them another shot usually a real cool placeI usually buy a cigar or drink if offered at the shop, however, I usually smoke my own cigars because they are kept perfect. Do they allow you to bring your own? I know someone who has Cubans there, but I've always bought what I had there and they cut and light it themselves, so they are usually aware what is what.I've never had a problem either, just at this new location. I always buy multiple cigars when I am there, but I may not smoke them when I am there either. I also buy boxes when they have events as well. I just don't like all the reminders and hassles to do the right thing, it makes for an amateur atmosphere. For now I mostly go to Churchill's and that is working out just fine, no hassles there!
Couldn't agree more. I go to Jenuwine's in Sterling Heights and bring my own stuff all the time. I quite frankly don't give a shit what their policy is. If that makes me an ass so be it. I always make a purchase (or 2 or 3) first, then light up whatever I have brought with me. And order more than a few drinks. I figure that if I'm dropping 20-40 (unfortunately for my wallet it almost always is closer to that $40 mark) in cigars and drinks I should be entitled to smoke a stick from home. However, nobody has ever called me on it even though I know that they know I'm not smoking something from their humidor.if you buy a STICK from the B&M and want a smoke a cigar you brought with you, no matter the policy they should be well obliged to let you smoke it. I've been in retail/restaurant business most of my life. any B&M tells me I can't after I patronized their business is not one I would be prolly ever go back to again.
