I'm pretty serious with my girlfriend. We'll hit the 3-year mark this May, and we're both juniors in college. She knows that there's no way I'm going to get engaged before I'm out of college. Seems like one too many things to worry about while in school and we also want to live with each other for a while before we decide what to do. I think that, at least for us, college is waaaaay too early to make the biggest commitment you can make (pretty much the biggest, I think).
We have lived together (with a couple other roommates, but the gf and I share a room) for maybe a year and a half, and it's going great so far. I think that waiting is best, and if it's meant to happen it will happen. Got no plans to not marry her, but if she said marry me now or I'm out I'd start packing her bags.

I got engaged and married on the same day.........before we graduated high school. Billy Idol sang an ode to our wedding.

Still with the same lady, wouldn't change a thing.

There's a difference between getting engaged and getting married here, guys.

I did get engaged 7 months ago, after 4 years of dating and it just didn't work out. We broke everything off about a month ago. It wasn't necessarily the situation, just our goals/viewpoints on where we see ourselves changed. And more...

Yes, got engaged just before I graduated, she was a year behind. Got married a couple of months after she graduated and have been married 26+ years!

Brother,

You will get engaged when your heart and mind tel you it is the right time. Do not do things cause someone else expects you to do it. If it is true love, you will know the right time, place to do it.

Just my two cents worth.
wise words there my friend!!!

I have my own (currently probably slightly jadded) views on the female species currently> i'll keep those to myself for now though as i do not see them being of much help to you.

It sounds like this si something your considering however...whatever you decide I do hope it is what you both want/are ready for and i wish you all the best man!

College and marriage do not mix....Have fun.
I had alot of standards that a woman had meet before I would marry them.
1. Must pluck ducks and know how to cook them.
2. Must know how to keep a house clean.
3. Must have good morals and values
The end result:

If you are going to get married make sure that you have all the sh*t figured out. I know a few couples who got married way too early and never really knew each other. They now are trying to figure out all of the stuff they never faced before marriage. Remember, marriage does not fix any problems, it only amplifies them. It's way easier to figure things out before you are married

A lot of things have changed since I was married. Have your stuff worked out? Naw 20 years old, two jobs, college full time, blooming alcoholic, (see college and two jobs previous). The only reason it worked was absolute compromise. We have both changed a bit in 35 years but were still sit down and work things out. The secret is she controls the money and I control ...uh well, lets see I control.... hmmmm. You know what. I dont controll anything. But she never, ever hassles or comments on my cigars. That is happily married.
