Apparently they're in most deciduous forests with creeks and rivers, so most of the eastern US.. Like I said, I'd never seen one before last week. That was actually on a sidewalk outside of an H&R Block. The female must have been inside and he was waiting on her... 
And I have a boot that spreads bug guts. Those should be named Evil Critter #1 on the Dead Bug Hit List.Hahaha! They're actually harmless. The females though have much smaller mandibles that can draw blood...
These always remind me of the Alien.

My house is in an older part of the city (built in the early fifties), and there are big elm trees in the area, so yes we have a lot of them.

A few thousand year old Banyan Fig Forrest in Ubud Bali....
These trees really bring things into perspective, life is fleeting, some of these were alive during the Bronze Age...
Photo's can't do the sizes justice but see the people and you might get an idea of the enormity and wonder of this Monkey Forrest.
It's funny there are a dozen odd tribes of Monkey's (300-400) in this Forrest. And it's the only place in Bali that has wild monkey's. They never leave this ancient place.
Apparently the information maps are delicious!
Stunning and humbling place to visit. Just keep all your stuff safe, they will steal anything!
