Do you guys and gals think the U.S. will ever lift the embargo?

Also, do you think Cubans are better than their D.R. counterparts?

(You can plead the fifth on the second part)

Someday yes. What do you have against dominican people anyway. Why are cuban people better? What about Nicaraguans, or Honduran people. There are some nice people from those countries as well, at least one of them.

Someday it will be lifted, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure on the 2nd question if you are reffering to the cigars or the inhabitants. I think there are great non-cuban cigars and shitty cuban cigars, and vice versa. Smoke what you like

Who knows when it will be lifted. I was reading Cigar Aficionado yesterday at the cigar shop. The issues were Spring of 1993, 1994, and 1995. And guess what, the exact same questions were being asked back then!
I have only been smoking for a few years, so it was weird for me to see this. You literally could have put the article in a current issue of CA and nobody would have noticed. So no, I don't think it'll be lifted anytime soon. If it does get lifted, I would assume it'd be by a democrat and not a republican. Although Clinton did tighten the embargo and he was a democrat. So I really don't know.

1 = yes, but probably not anytime soon

2 = usually, but not necessarily. There are several NCs that I like and enjoy more than some CCs.

#1 - yes
#2 - no

Call me a pessimistic, but I've always thought when the embargo is lifted, how many knockoff cigars vendors are going to be trying to shove down your mouth - as real genuine CC's.

I think it'll be lifted in my lifetime. Theres bound to be a Dem. who does it.
I can remember when it was instituted. My stepfather smoked Cubans and he thought he would see it in a few years. Here we are ~45 years later. . .:lookaroun With the country so evenly divided and the quest for power the most important issue facing our elected idiots, I am no longer certain it will be lifted in my lifetime. Florida is too valuable to either party and I suspect neither will risk annoying the Cuban expatriate vote.

I can't tell if I'd want it lifted or not (the guys 'round these parts have given me food for thought on both sides of the issue), but I doubt it will happen any time soon.

Hmm I should've mentioned I'm only 19. I've got 45 to spare (knock on wood).

ill go out there and say it will be lifted soon just cause no one else thinks it will. personally i like CCs and NCs i just like NCs because you dont have to age them for as long before there good but aged ccs are better than aged ncs imo

Yes it will.

As far as NC or CC you cannot compare because each country has different soil and it produces different flavors in the leaf.

Each country has a distinct flavor profile to the tobacco they produce.

As far as Cubans needing age I think in the last 2 years since they are using aged tobacco they don't need as much age as they use to.

Look at 06 and 07 offerings right out of the box some pretty impressive flavors for being such young cigars .

And again it comes down to personal taste aged or fresh a cigar should have some flavor to start being NC or CC some just benefit with some age.

The only way to get rid of the embargo is to nuke Miami. Then the politicians can stop pretending that the embargo serves any point at all.
And I say this with great respect to the people of Florida and Cubans all over the globe. There was a lot of bad shit that happened back then and I'm glad I didn't have to go through any of it, but I think the embargo has served its point. In my opinion, Florida is playing a big part in robbing me of my rights to travel when and where I please.

1. It's been going strong for 46 years on Thursday. Will it end? Some day, I hope.

2. Cuban Cigars are superior in my opinion. Not that the others arent good and sometimes great, but I smoked a 9 year old Lusi watching the afc/nfc championship games and it was a religious experience.

It'll be lifted when politicians grow some balls and stop pandering to the cuban vote in Florida. For people so passionate about an issue, you'd think they could see that just 1 country having an embargo against Cuba does nothing when the rest of the world can trade with Cuba.
