So I just got back from a new sushi place. It was one of those cheaper places where the stuff rides on this conveyor belt and you just grab what you want. Anyway, most of it was good, but there was something I ate that had a HORRIBLE "finish" to translate it into cigar terms  I'm pretty sure it was this brown/grey glob of stuff that came with my crab, sorta like a very whipped mouse. Someone called it "crab butter", only it tasted like crab poop.

But I have just discovered the cure to getting the taste of bad sushi out of your mouth: a Liga Privada T-52. Not only does it have enough body to cut through the weirdness, but I can feel it washing away that unknown brown globby stuff with every puff, replacing it with a delicious array of rich spices. mmmmm.

I just thought I'd share, in case any of you run into this little problem :smokingbo

Cheap Sushi sounds very risky to me. I can no longer eat raw oysters so I do eat sushi either. Now, The Liga Privada T-52 sounds real good.

Ugh sushi :wtf:. Can't stand the texture, the wife though loves it. She saw this ad yesterday for a new sushi place in town and about died. Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure she doesn't eat any "crab butter". Glad to hear the Liga did the trick.

You know, Dan, I DO roll sushi... nothing raw. But California rolls... $6 for an 8-piece large roll. I'll let you know when I roll, again, and you can get your wifey some! Are you talking about "Ocean Buffet"? I have heard some good stuff about the place. But I like the sushi at Tokyo Steakhouse and Ichiban. Not sure about that new place, yet. Would like to try it, though.

C'mon, Bob... you mean noodlin' for lunker catfish in old mining strip pit, muddy creek water doesn't make for good sushi??? A little lead in your makisushi never hurt anyone...

First sign should have been the conveyor belt. The door wouldn't have had a chance to close behind me had I seen that.

:rolling:

If they can do a Rainbow Roll, Volcano Roll and SNow White Roll, I could hang out for a bit.

Now, an Angry Dragon? That would be perfect.

I love sushi!! I've had my fair share of bad pieces though. Several years ago I spent a few weeks in japan and def. had a few "delicacies" I wasn't too fond of. Great job figuring out a way to get rid of the sushi experience.

Sorry to hear you had a bad piece.

When I was in Japan and other parts of the SouthEast Asia I lived on Sushi and rice, loved the stuff. But here in the States I have found you get what you payed for it.

Now CigarCowboy, the cheap women, booze and cigars in my younger days were good to go. For I was only making $120 a month (before taxes), free room and board though at the University Of Science Medicine and Culture. They all made me happy at the time.

it may have been monk liver, which is wonderful when fresh and an abomination when not. That said, monk liver doesn't seem like "conveyor belt sushi" kinda stuff.

There is a great sushi lunch spot near work that has little boats that carry the sushi around a flowing river. Pretty cool set up. The only time they use it is if there are a lot of people sitting. Otherwise it is made to order. I like most of the fish, squid and octopus. The roe, and urchin are about as far out as i like to get. We hit up this Sushi Happy hour that has 60% off all Sushi and $10 for a large Saki and a large Saporo. For less than $20 I can get a kickin buzz and fill my belly with fresh sushi.

BTW California Rolls are to sushi as Mango Salsa is to Mexican food

I try not to be a food snob... but when it comes to sushi I only eat the best. I don't mess around. I got food poisoning a long time ago when I didn't know better. I almost died but I learned my lesson.

Nope...I am a hardcore sushi eater. My wife won't even go to sushi with me. My sushi place specializes in the exotic. Whole baby octopus, salmon skin, raw clams, whole Japanese river crabs.

I eat my Sea Urchin with a raw quail egg and smelt eggs on top.
