Cutting through cello??

Steve Saka actually recommended this recently, and said it helps prevent cracking of the wrapper when using an inexpensive cutter.

It sounded odd to me, but I tried it and couldn't see any ill-effect.

I do it for customers all the time... I've had shops do it for me too... Don't see the big deal either way. :dunno:

I've seen it done, heard it protects the wrapper, no scientific evidence have I seen yet. Of course in my world, everyone wears white gloves while handling my smokes.

I've done this periodically with no bad results. If one's cutter (dull or otherwise) can't make it through cello cleanly, how can it get through a whole cigar? That's a hardware issue, not a process issue in my mind.
I've had this done at cigar bars for me as well. Never questioned it, never had a bad cut.
