Just got home from a weekend trip to Milwaukee, and found a Padron maduro sampler on my doorstep from CBid. I opened it up to fondle and unpack, and found this:

A damaged cap. After taking a closer look at these guys, the caps all look like crap, but this one is clearly damaged. Is it worth contacting CB about? Anyone have any guess how they'll handle this? Will they send a single stick or will I have to send the box back? This is the first time I've had this happen.

Happened to me before and the cigars were mangled. Called them and they told me that what I purchased, they didn't have anymore. They ended up replacing the sticks with other sticks at the same price point.

C I is pretty good with customer service. in my opinion they just pull the sticks from partial boxes in large containers and you get what you get which is not always the ones in the best shape. Call him tell him to replace them

Was it the Padron box sampler? A lot of guys (me included) got bad boxes from another retailer. IMHO the box is the problem as it doesn't adequately protect the sticks in shipping; too much up-down wiggle room. I'm sure CI will make it right.

Yep. The 1926 No.1 was the damaged one. There was a lot of play in the box, and the cap looked weird to begin with. I'll give them a call today.

As much as I despise CI's fraudulent marketing practices, their customer service is one of the best. They'll replace it without question.

Oh, and when you are on the phone with them, ask for Trish, and tell her you want info on their "platinum membership".

cut it and smoke it after they send you the replacement and dont ask you to send the damaged one back, which is how it usually goes with a damaged single.

when i was building my stash and was ordering a shitton from everywhere, i got sooooo many damaged singles because they pack the boxes like complete shit,
but like everyone says their CS is top notch, they always take care of everything super efficiently (even though they blame EVERYTHING on UPS but that's another topic in itself)
they are up there with zappos and amazon in customer service...

Ok here's my update: sent an email to CBid customer service yesterday, and got a pretty quick response. I send pictures and this morning she says she thinks the damage isn't very far below the cap and that it should cut without unraveling. I'm not sure how I feel about this, because the cigar was damaged. I don't want to cut it and have it fall apart while I'm smoking it. It's a pricy cigar. It was the Padron 1926 No. 1 churchill in the sampler. Here are the pictures:

I would just smoke that one first. Not like it ruins the entire cigar

That looks to be below the cap to me. Maybe I'm looking at the pictures incorrectly, but if the wrapper is cracked, especially where it's going to contact your mouth, I can almost guarantee it will unravel a bit.

If it was a $5 cigar, I'd probably say smoke it, but given that it's a 1926 - I'd ask for it to be replaced. Then again, I'm a pretty big pain in the ass most times.
