I don't have cable, or satellite, but your story sounds exactly like what happened to my parents. Dish guys botched the job.

It took me ~8 hours of monkeying with it to get everything to work. Of course, the PITA new TV they got doesn't make life any easier either (Mitsubishi, holy shit there's a ton of options to set up before it will display anything)

Now I'm on DSL, and still have a home phone.

I'm looking into local cable, and satellite packages for TV and high speed internet. My wife and I both have cell phones, I don't see the point in paying 2 different phone bills, we don't get any calls at home except solicitors anyhow (proof that the 'don't call list' is a bunch of BS)

Gummi, I have only received one sales call on my cel in five years. I added it to the DNCL when it first came out and that was it. Nothing on our home phone since either.

Finally finished with my Dish upgrade. My replacement HD-DVR got here on Friday and I installed myself. The Dish tech was here today to finish installing my old DVR unit on our 27" set in the livingroom. That way my wife can record her shows (Oprah, Mings Quest, House Hunters, etc.) on the old set and this will also act as a backup in case the new HD receiver goes south again.

Sure is nice seeing the football games, movies, etc in HD. :applause:

Unbelieveable. Dishnetwork came in on Saturday and fixed EVERYTHING. Now I have picture in picture and DVR on two channels at once. Way cool. I guess I will keep them.
