Dropped my cell phone in a freakin' toilet tonight...it's fried.

Funny thing is, Linda and I were looking at new phones today, not sure if I'm gonna do the iPhone thing or Crackberry, leaning toward the Blackberry. Guess a new phone's in my future sooner than I'd expected.

hahaha, sorry to hear.
I love my Iphone but I was already cingular which turned into At&T.
Id you are Verizon go with Blackberry, it's a good network, but if you are sprint, don't forget the Palm Pre, not a bad phone at all.

but I can only say I love my iPhone, it's just so much fun

Well, at least you didn't leave your blackberry in your trunks when you went swimming.

Twice.

In one month.

Like I did.

Yeah, I'm brain dead.

Sorry to hear that Wade.

We have the same problem, sort of. I wanted to buy a new phone and my kids a couple of weeks ago threw mine in the bathtub! It still works..it was even submerged for a minute or two, I can't win!

Too bad you couldn't make it a little longer... sounds like the Storm2 will drop in OCT.

Rumors on the tech blogs point to that, as well as, them just dropping it to $50.

Increased ease of texting, faster shutter speed, smooth transitions, more internal memory... and the like.

I too am in the market, but can't decide...

I was a verizon user for a long time. I got the storm and hated it. It was heavy and the touch screen has horrible. I switched to the curve. I did like the phone, but it just was not what I was looking for. Also I had no service in my neighbor hood.

When our contract came expired I decided to try AT&T and love it. I got the iphone and the features have been well worth the money. I Also really enjoy having my music right there with me. There have been several apps that have the made the phone great for me. The web browsing is so much nicer and smoother on it then any blackberry I have seen. Some people say the blackberry is better for email, but I feel they are both about the same. The amount of different apps for the thing is crazy. It has changed the way I use and view cell phones. And with AT&T I do have service at home which is a huge plus for me.

Good luck and if you got the time weight all the pros and cons and get what best fits your needs.

There are ways to revive your phone if it hasn't fried any componenets.
1. turn it off and remove the battery ASAP
2. If it has been dropped in salt water or some foul liquid drop the phone into rubbing alcohol, as pure as you can get. Soak it and swish it around for a few minutes.
3. Allow the phone to dry completely for a few days. Leaving it under dry rice or in sunshine will help it dry more completely.
4. pray (maybe you should do this first)

I was looking at a comparison iPhone vs Blackberry site, what does the following mean:

If you’re like us, you’re probably surprised to see the handset’s lack of Wi-Fi connectivity. That’s the major area where iPhone has an advantage

Not sure what this is really saying. The Crackberry has web browser, so isn't that wi-fi? Need a techno geek to help me out here! :eyequiver

I also have the storm... and have since it launched. I have to agree with all the brothers who hate it and all the brothers who love it. THe first release was godawful. And the first software patch barely made it tolerable.

However, now that the latest SW dropped it's much easier and less glitchy to use. On top of that, I dropped mine and effed it up in a parking lot (running... drop... skid for twenty feet) the insurance replacement has some hardware changes I didn't expect. Much better touch and click functionality and the buttons at the bottom are improved.

That being said... I gotta say it will vary by carrier:

AT&T - IPhone
VZW - Storm (or Storm 2... should be worth a one month wait if you pick up a fleabay temporary unit)
Sprint - Palm Pre - This is an excellent Phone.

My company does tech for all of these products. We are in a day and age where some very sweet devices are on the market. Happy hunting!

I'm assuming your gonna shell out for a data plan. Make sure you have 3G coverage because with out it the iphone sucks. Apps is what makes the iphone great. now if call sound quality is what you really like go with blackberry but not the storm. let me sum it up best i can. if like always being connected and have 3G go with iphone. If you mainly use for calls and text and occasionally use apps go with blackberry.

The iphone has full time wifi. I'm not sure if the backberry's do on the AT&T network. You would have to ask them. On verizon the wifi is disabled in all of their phones and that drove me crazy.

I have read good things about the tour, but it is still not in the iphone range. It will all depend on the options you are looking for.

I also love the voice mail on the iphone. I do not have to dial into a voice mail #. When in the phone screen you hit the voice mail button and they are all listed out. Just select the one you want and push play. So simple.

My call clarity on my phone is great, I have not had a dropped call or bad reception. I do use it a lot on the Edge network in one of the place I'm in and its a little slow to browse the web, but not disappointing. Also the 3g, 2G or Edge networks do not reflect the call clarity. That is just for your data plan.

As far as comparisons try Cnet, Tech Crunch or my favorite for anything cell phone related Howard Chui Forums. Great info for all phones, carriers and accessories.
