Yet another reason why I never use the atm card linked to my main account.CWS said:The virtual account is a great idea. Credit cards offer more flexibility. All you have to do is challenge the charge to stop the count process.
Now I'm going to really scare you. Be very careful when using ATM's. There is a national band that are using cameras and fake ATM's to catch you card info and PIN. Use banks and not conveience stores (saves on the fee anyway). Check the ATM machine for anything that looks funny like wood paneling or tape. Guys have been know to put a fake reader right over the top of the real one and pick up all the data.
Sorry to be preachy but you wouldn't beleiev the garabage that goes on out here in anorganized fashion.
I have a USAA account that is specifically for atm withdrawals. It only has a couple hundred in it so if it gets compromised, my main account can't be drained.
Transfers from my main account can be done by automated phone or online and are instantaneous.
An added bonus is I never have to pay ANY atm fees no matter what atm I use (up to $15 a month).
Comes in handy for certain, ahem, high fee atms.
