Guitar - Fender Tele w/ Texas Specials, Oscar Schmidt elec/acous., Gretsch Synchromatic silver sparkle
Bass - Fender American J, Fender Squire P.
Drums a little and am learning keys.

Todd, I am one of those people who learn by ear. I can barely read music and have learned by ear for the 31 years I've been playing. I envy the people who can do both - read and learn by ear.

Trumpet - haven't much in the last few years, but the 13 years before it I was involved in anything I could. Kind of want to find to start playing again, maybe in a community band or something.

Used to play the trumpet and a little keyboard.

Now all I play well is the radio.

My father used to play guitar, banjo and steel guitar so you'd think some of that might have rubbed off on me. I've had a guitar since I was 8 and still haven't learned how to play.

I don't play any instrument, but I love listening to guitar, piano and saxaphone.
I've been thinking of buying a used acoustic guitar and giving it a go.

Has everyone here had formal lessons - or did you learn on your own?

Nice horn Kevin! That's definetly not the student model is it!

I use to play Alto Sax back in the day. I wish I never stopped.

Plenty of formal lessons here Ted.

Actually no. I wound up having to take it back because there were a few things I wasn't happy with. I was being picky, picky, picky, but it made a big difference!

ROFL...never had a tuba player I couldn't out play (most of ours were pretty average, all the good ones switched to trombone). I constantly practiced playing pieces by Arturo Sandoval, so my range was pretty good those last few years. Granted...nothing can shake the walls of a room like a good blast from a tuba.

I enjoyed being in the brass section in general and pissing off all the woodwinds or colorguard members (depending on the season).

Maybe, but the director was a trombonist as a 1st instrument, so guess which section got a little more attention and opportunity for solos.
