Sadly no. I used to shoot everything on a semi-daily basis while living back home (bow, shotgun, rifle, pellet), but in college the best I could do was archery and after college I now live in the city so nothing for nearly a year. Recently I have been getting the itch to shoot again and I was considering getting my concealed carry permit. Before doing so I'd like to take some tactical training courses though because I don't have much experience with close combat handgun shooting.

Anyone recommend any Charlotte places?

Sight alignment, sight picture, breathing/trigger control, and a good position... these basic fundamentals sound so simple up front but take a lot of time/effort to perfect. I go to the range every chance I get and can afford. Dry firing is also fairly effective but nothing can replace trigger time. I've shot Service Rifle/High Power/Long Range/Mid Range off and on since 2000 and been to Camp Perry for the NRA nationals 4 times. (Classified as Master and still need 12 points to leg out, missed the last President's 100 I shot in by about 20 people)

I love me some shooting!
Also controlling heart beat, very simple with some practice.

Maybe good for target practice, but I agree with ThankfulJoe on the basics. If you have a surge of adrenaline because somebody just shot the clerk running the convenience store you're in, I highly doubt any of us here will be able to control their heartbeat. If you can, then that cigar aint made from tobacco!
