Which end is up, which cap is wrong....bla bla bla

What I want to know is how long am I supposed to soak my cigars in brandy before I smoke them?

I don't have that BOTL cigar, was just a picture I took while in Nicaragua. Like Jere said, it was supposed to go to another BOTL but don't think it ever made it from the person that packaged it back to the US. He's been MIA here on BOTL for some time now...

In the case of the My Father bats....maybe the band was placed that way because of the display, as shown in the first pic in your review. Hard to tell by the size of the image, but would be interesting to see a larger res image to see the wrapper on the other cigars.
We actually had this discussion. It didn't make sense to me as to why they would put the band on that way, as they easily could have stood them up from the bottom of the bat.

That said... when I pressed her more about the bat since it's a collector thing and explained the apparent direction of the roll... she understood that MAYBE this cigar is different because it's done as a "show piece," so she's going to have Jose Ortega call me back on Monday (when he returns to the office).

Sorry that doesn't definitively solve your guys' debate... and I know next Monday is a ways off...
We actually asked José and Janny García. Neither one of them knew, although IIRC they disagreed when guessing.

For me, the band was the key, it just made little sense to band it that way if the intention was to smoke it the other way. If you hold the cigar like a baseball bat, the band is upside down.

Typically, when a bat is leaned against a fence, wall, or in a holder similar to the display they used, the head of the bat is down.

Wouldn't you like to know?

Wow you are both braver then I am. If no one from the manufacturer could tell me those things like blend or even which end to light I don't think I could have lit it. They should come with a warning label on them. "tho this item is made entirely from tobacco it is in no way shape or form intended for human consumption.

Like was mentioned in the Pipe, it wasn't an auction piece, these were sold. You mentioned the CAO Sopranos set earlier, I guess I look at it similar to that. I wasn't expecting much of anything, but you sold the to retail customers, someone was going to smoke one.

Perhaps arrows on the cellophane for the Bat would have been a good idea. lol.

Funny how after reading all of this no one has made the connection that the cigars are like roofing tiles/shingles.

Start at the bottom and overlap as you go up.

Easiest way to remember.

Honestly I enjoyed the heck out on each post here :hysterica

Not trying to be smart here but just to add a reason on what Aaron said earlier about the overlapping of the wrapper.

The tips of all the tobacco leafs in a cigar should be lightened first hence all leaf components in a cigar are rolled pointing the foot.

Rollers will always apply the wrappers from the tip of the wrapper leaf on the foot of the bunch toward the stem were the cap is applied , so eventually the part which we put in the mouth is the stem part of all the leafs were there are no nutrients, so in this case I guess the reviewer fired up a bunch of stems which was not intended to even if the band was applied up down .
