So I figured I'd ask you guys before I talked to the local cigar shop/smoking room in my neighborhood. . . I'm throwing a batchlor party for my best friend Friday, and I figured the smoking room would be a great place for everyone to meet up, before we go out (I'm really upset cuz I can't get any strippers cuz of his fiancee, but that's a different story). . . Anyway, everyone's going to meet up there, I've already asked and they said it would be fine if I brought a special bottle of wine for the occasion, but would it be bad form for he and I to smoke a couple of the cigars I just ordered? Not that this place doesn't have excellent cigars, but they're pricey and I'm broke! Everyone else that comes with the party will have to buy their own stuff, but I don't know really what the ettiquite is regarding bringing your own smokes into a place where they're sold. Any thoughts?

If you're going to smoke something you can't get there I woud just do it. It's a bit like taking special food when going out to eat with a buch of other people because you can't eat what they serve.

I would think that as long as the others are buying their smokes there it isn't an issue.

Any time I have smoked at a B&M I always bought a stick or two anyway though. Maybe just grab a couple cheaper sticks.

I usually pick up something. There store is there to make money. Even if it is something cheaper, its still the gesture.

Same here. Pick up an RP edge, sun grown, LGC #4. They can be had for around 5 bucks.

If other members of your party are going to be buying some cigars from them, then just buy a couple of sticks for you and the groom to give away later.

If you went to McDonalds you would not bring in a Burger King cup of pop.
But if you refilled your cup with a can of coke you brought in, then in my opinion, no harm no foul. Just dont make a big deal out of it in front of the b/m owner.

I NEVER buy anything at my local B&M. When I go I always carry cubans and I haven't had a problem with it yet. They have a potential customer and he might or might not be enticed to buy. Plus, since everyone is meeting there then you are bringing in a lot of potential customers. I really see no problem with it.

Oh and JT, I used to always go get something from Wendy's and meet my friends and McDonalds, or vice versa with something else. I'm bbb...bbbb....bbbaaadddd :hysterica

Generally, it is good form to purchase something if you are going to use the shop for any length of time. We play poker at my local shop on Fridays, and we have established a two stick minimum rule to do so. Maybe you can work something out with the owner to buy two or three sticks per person at a group price or discounted rate.

If it's a smoke not sold there, go ahead, it's ok. But, regarldess, it shows good faith even if ya bought a 3 dollar stick from him. Pluss, i'm sure the other fellows will buy from him as well.

I generally buy at least a stick or two from a B&M if I'm going to smoke my own there; however, if there's a good-sized group, and others are buying, it's probably not that big of a deal.

By the way, where are you going? There aren't a whole lot of places in Fort Worth.

I would have to agree with most here... If your group is buying several things then go ahead and smoke it... If they are not, then buy something cheap and then smoke yours.

That sounds like a plan to me. . . They're charging me a corking fee for the wine too, so I don't feel too bad about bein' a little cheap. . . they're gonna make some money

What! A corking fee!!!! All bets are off!!! If the store can't make money on "good faith" and feels the need to charge to open a freegin bottle!! f em!!!! If its a shop you go to often, they should wave this fee. Regardless, with that in mind, f em if you get charged!! F the mother lovers!!!!

Hey jason and too all others. When posting a moral issue question, please tell us all the details. For example, if we would have known about the corking fee from the gecko, then our answeres would have been diferent!!! Again, your original question has changed again, because they serve wine also. So, in summary, you wanna go to a shop that sells cigars and wine, but you aren't going to buy anything from them AND you'r bringing your own smokes and wine????? WTF?????? He's in bus to make money.....Proper ettiquete, make a chaepo cigar and purpchase a cheap bottle of wine form the guy. Hell, I bet he has a $15 bottle he'd sell ya. If it's a party with your friends, They will drink it along with the wine you bring. Just my poor two cents!!
