Thanks for the comments on the brands I designed... I have always preferred the understated, elegant look - I know some folks like more pizazz, but often I find cigars that are over packaged (IMO) are making up for inadequacies in the actual product. IMO again...

I agree to this. Some of the best cigars at the B&M you can get are Fuentes or Ligas and they both have elegant yet simplistic packaging. They sell based on their name alone. Some of the more exotic packaging such as the Psyko Seven as I showed before didn't impress me when I tried them. I bought it because I thought the band looked cool and I didn't know a lot about cigars when I bought it.

Actually, I think LP sold well initially in very large part because of the classic, yet modern packaging. I picked up my first Lp9 based solely on the look of the band, box, and packaging. I knew almost nothing about the brand.

I greatly dislike the current trend of over-packaging stuff with bands that cover nearly the while stick. From those gaudy CAO sticks (don't remember the names, but there was a Halloween and Christmas one) to the Fifty Shades of Obsidian, to the Alec Bradley insanity, it's just too much.

I have definitely done this. Flashy bands turn me away, but at the same time I've probably missed on a great cigar or two because of it.
So far the flashy regular production cigars I have smoked were not impressive. I'd say like @ssaka that they put more eye catching to hide its poorer quality.

I like my father and undercrown designs because the look is more classy than flashy. I made jokes about the new oversized camacho bands. Can we call them bands? I'd say wraps.

Now, the limited production sticks with added eye candy are a whole different beast.

I've always felt the La Duena bands were classy, and elegant.

The Mbombay bands are cool as shit too, but that is way too much band on a cigar.

I'm with @Jbuike here. The original Room 101 OSOK. From the boxes to the paper wrapper, to the tissue paper to the elegant band the are works of art! Taste amazing as well!

I'm also in love with the AJ Fernandez New World. The band was meant to celebrate the the finding of tobacco from the native Americans. It's classy and elegant. I think it looks great on the box pressed New World.

The H&H did have some pretty cool packaging.

I'm pretty partial to the Liga Privada No9, which I think has about the best aesthetic of all time. Logo, band execution, box design... all of it is excellent.

Another one I find to be really appealing is the Caldwell Long Live the King. The artwork and design is very modern, but the presentation is fairly classic. It's a great mix.

I'm also partial to the Cuban Partagas look. I love the simplicity of the red and gold bands in a hinged Spanish cedar box, it's the perfect mix of classic cigar aesthetic:

And the Las Calaveras. What a home run there. Another one of my favorite presentations of all time.
Just cracked open my LP 9 box and I couldn't agree more, love the presentation.

I'm going to bump this thread and chime in here with Alec Bradley Empire. I was told that these were only made for NY b&m's and wouldn't be available elsewhere. I love the elegant yet simple design of the band and the box, which I have in my collection. Being a staple to the NYC skyline is the Empire State Building, which clearly is incorporated with the cigar band's design. And these are a staple in my humi....when I can get to the one local shop that has them at the moment. They do sell rather fast.
