My favorites have already been mentioned ... Frank Herbert's Dune, Asimov's Foundation, Tom Clancy ...

Another one I enjoyed is Orson Scott Card's Ender series.

And as far as Anne Rice is concerned ... she put her big foot in her mouth and pissed off quite a few people. Link

totally got into the Left Behind series! Also, Frank Peretti's novels - fiction based on biblical truth,,, total spiritual warfare! talk about goosebumps!

i acquired my father's sci fi books (probably 50 or so), including the dune trilogy, numerous Asimov's, and a few from Stephen King (now THAT's some scary stuff! - I recommend The Shining! scared the #*@$% out of me!!).

recently, I've read T. Jefferson Parker - pretty accurate law enforcement whodunnit mysteries.

I read the majority all but the last one I think of the Left Behind Series...

Those and most of the Alex Cross books are the only two series that I have really read

Gummi, I've known you for years now...and I had no idea you were a reader!
You must smoke too much.:stretchgr We've had a few discussions about reading in the garage.

Admittedly, I don't read as much as I did before Twerpy was born. It's hard to. I watch more movies now than I used to.

I used to burn through 2-3 books per week, now, I'm doing good to get in a couple per month.

I've been reading Ted Bell lately. Kind of like Cussler, his hero, Alex Hawke goes around terrorizing badguys, with his team of SEALs. I'm in the middle of Assassin. If you start reading this series, start with the first book, Hawke.

Clarification: I didn't know how MUCH of an impact reading had on you...not that you didn't read. :rolling:

My favorite series is definitely the Dirk Pitt series by Clive Cussler, but the Bourne trilogy (Ludlum) is a close second.

I forgot all about those, I did read the Bourne series as well.

The 3rd book got kind of hard for me to follow. I had to put it down for a while and then come back to it to finish. I wish I had read them before seeing the movies. Talk about not following the book, WOW.:wtf:

Clancy is hit and miss with me. Hands down, my favorite is Without Remorse Mr Clark is a badass.

While I have enjoyed all of the Clancy books, I agree that Without Remorse is my favorite. I wish they did more books focused on him, I really liked Rainbox 6 because of that.

Vince Flynn has a great series out...cant remember the main characters name, but its about a CIA operative that wacks the bad guys..the writers favorite show is "24" so its sorta along those same lines but different if that makes sense. Just returned the last one to the liberary with a ten dollar late fee...forgot I still had it, but was worth the read...Clancy is an old favorite...I also have a shelf full of books about LRRP's in vietnam, makes for an even better read when its a true story...
