What Donk said. If you haven't tried much from the CAO line be sure to, as well as the Torano line.
As to the "unrefined pallete", give it time. Believe it or not, it will come. Just keep paying attention when you smoke, looking for nuances. When you least expect it, you'll start picking up on things you woudl't have before.

Well, I didn't and ended up having some uneven burn issues until I got up through that bulbous portion of the cigar

I don't know you guys, I maybe would have cut the bulbous portion off. Damn thing can get aggravating sometimes. :nodlaugh:
