A humi full of these sticks would make pretty much anyone on this forum a happy camper. And all come in the price range you suggested.

Any Pardon variety is delicious ( their X000 (thousand) series are on the cheaper side in the 5-8$ range) as well as the majority of fuente in my opinion….but thats probably exceeding the 8$ price point ….the previous sticks mentioned by dscl are all solid sticks … I would also go with anything by crowed heads such as headily grange or four kicks….Oliva produces solid sticks especially the Oliva V serie are solid in almost every vitola….. most of the ashton cigars are delicious thought they can exceed your price point……..these suggestions are not even scratching the surface of what is available ….. best advice get some samplers try a wide variety and smoke what you like

Some website to check out if your not familiar and just starting …. www.cigarmonster.com ……www.famous-smoke.com (<---their both the same company) If you click on "forums" at the top of this page and scroll down you can see other cigar sites that are sponsors here ……. I would also check out www.cigarsinternational.com or www.cigarbid.com (both of these companies are one in the same)…… some call it a "slippery slope"….but its more like a Cliff …Enjoy The Jump!

I would avoid Gurkha and Rocky Patel personally, but otherwise Cigar International/Famous Smoke samplers are the way to go -- try a bunch of stuff!

E.P. Carillo is another great option for that price range and quality. I wouldn't worry to much about filling your humi to max capacity right off the bat.... It will happen on its own faster than you think.

First, don't be in a rush to fill it! Trust me, that'll happen all on its own. Try singles, and if you like them, buy a fiver. If you still like them, buy another fiver. If you're still in love after that, buy a box.

Your palate will change and develop as you get more into cigars. Don't stock up yet, you might regret it later.

As far as medium recommendations go, here are a few based on your likes, and in the price range:
-Kristoff Maduro
-illusione Rothschild
-Alec Bradley Tempus Maduro Quadrum
-AB Black Market
-Padron 2000 Maduro
-Fuente 858 Maduro
-Drew Estate MUWAT, especially the +11 and Baitfish
-Drew Estate Undercrown
-Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro
-EP Carillo core Maduro
-RoMa Craft Intemperance BA XXI
-Ramon Bueso Genesis

+1.

Actually, +∞. If there's a better smoke in that price range I'd like to know about it.

Definitely don't fall into the Gurkha/RP trap. I've only been smoking for about 6 months, and I've managed to fill 2 50-count humis in that time, but there are 7 Gurkhas and 5 or 6 RPs in there that I won't touch anytime soon. Spend a little time here and these guys will steer you in the right direction.

Like others have said, don't go crazy trying to fill it right now. Take your time and try out a variety sticks. The humidor will fill itself before you know it and then you'll be on your way to looking into a wineador or cabinet before you know it! Lol

Another suggestion is to get sampler packs. Not the ones with 5 sticks of 5 volitas of the same stick, but like the AB sampler pack, the Pinar del Rio sampler, CAO sampler, anything AJFernandez sampler, to name a few. Thats how I fine tuned what I liked, and I didn't have a mostly untouched box of a blend I didn't care for. You can grab them for ~15-30 for a 5 pack, depending on the brands.
