Close up of previous. Each pile and/or leaf in separate bags are different--either different strain or picked from different parts of same strain of plant. Much experimentation going on here. It's all aging. I suppose I'll really know how good it is in 2012 or 13 or 14. But I can tell you the garage smells DIVINE. The aroma cannot be contained by plastic bags.

Forgot to answer question from a poster above--I'm in Tallahassee, Fla.
That's a great project you've got going on there. I live in NC so i imagine the climate has to be perfect for some nice tobacco growing. Down the road when i own a house with some property I'd love to give this a try!

where are the cigar pictures?
I've only rolled a handful of test cigars so far. Decent, smokable, passable, but nothing outstanding. I think all the leaf needs more aging and I definitely need to learn how to blend in order to put a really good cigar together. I want to amass a lot of different strains, let it all age properly, and then set my mind to some serious blending efforts. For now I'm content to grow it, ferment it, and store/age it. I am growing several new strains this year which I hope will have some distinct and excellent cigar flavors. A lot of the leaf I grew the past two years is, I think, really suited to wrapper leaf. Thus while it looks great, it may not be ideal for filler. At least one of the strains I'm growing this year looks really oily and is real sticky. I'm hoping that one will turn out to be a good strong flavorful cigar tobacco.

I bet it does smell good. I may have to try to grow some just for a aroma. Sure would beat potpourri. My wife and I went to the Graycliff factory and the smell of that place was wonderful!

That is a Thing of beauty! Can seeds be ordered from some place? Thanks for posting the pics and I hope you will keep us updated from this day forward. I would love to hang some leaves in my sun room and enjoy the aroma too.

Forgive the lack of concrete specificity in my reply, but it's my birthday/fathers day so I'm hammered... I googled how to make your own cigars and found a Brit who will happily sell you four or five types of seeds. It's near the top of the hit list

Of course, in the time Ive spent typing this, I could have look it up again and given you the URL. Booz is one heck of a drug.
