30 gallons fresh water, established for 5 yrs.

55 gallon saltwater fish only in the works. Been cycling a couple weeks and already got a large amount of life forming.

I agree, very relaxing and I can watch the fish for hours.

had a 46 fresh and a 125 fresh.

sold the 46. I have gone in deep on the gear for the 125 now, really into it. Love my fish. I would say buy bigger try to start with a 55 or so. The larger it is the easier it is to make adjustments and also the greater amount of water absorbs waste and your mistakes easier.

Don't go huge though, just not a 30+, more 50-90. The 30 will get old if you get into it.

Used to do big tropical freshwater tanks and also bred bettas. Not much room/time since I've been at college. Just got a puppy and don't think I'd have the money/time to start one up in my new house for a few more months at least! I've been kinda kicking around the idea of a nano saltwater, maybe 12 gal, for my desk. Just a couple small live rocks with an anemone, some clowns, and shrimp. Pretty cliche, but it'd be sweet.

Currently I have a 55gal FW setup with driftwood and plants that houses an assortment of tetras and an adolescent chocolate plecostomus.

I also have a 30gal and 10gal tank, but at the moment they are not up and running. The 10 started as freshwater and eventually went salt with 8-10 lbs of live rock, a few crabs, turbo snails, and a clown. Unfortunately the clownfish jumped out through an opening in the lid (my fault considering this gap was caused by my *cough* modifying a protein skimmer rated for a 75gal tank for use in my 10gal.) When I found him, it was sadly too late.

I have big plans once I get a house, but for now, with a dog and a cat entering the mix, my hands are tied and space is limited.

Got a 35 gallon hexagon with no fish for the past 5 years or so. It is over grown with a plant that I bought in 1985. I just add water for evaporation once a month.
Have had many others over the years with a 75, 37, 29, 35, and two 10s set up at one time. Mostly fresh water with a dabble here and there with saltwater- fish only.

I have a 55g Freshwater and have had fish since about the 5th grade. They are very relaxing to watch, and if you get your tank set up right, very low maintenance pets. I had a lot of big fish in the tank prior to Army (12ish" Peacock Oscar, 12ish" Sunrise Oscar, 2 10ish" Red Belly Pacus, and a Pleco that must've been pushing 15", he was a monster) but now keep it stocked with a variety of little (1-3") fish as PCS' dictate...

Had several over the years, but I have moved several times and I am not setting the damn thing up again until I am sure I am going to be there a while. My best experience has been with the 29 gallon tank kit. I have seen them at walmart and petsmart. Comes with everything you need but water and fish. I would suggest buying a good stand too.
