I used to have a few tanks set up 20 years ago, and have been thinking about setting up another one. It would probably be a 180 gallon tank, with a half dozen really nice oriental goldfish in it. They're easier to take care of - less sensitive to temp changes, etc. They're kinda messy pigs though, so a little more cleaning and better filters. I think they're beautiful, especially when you can source high quality ones.

A couple pics of my 55 gallon salt.

In place. It's not a pre-drilled tank, so I have an over flow box for my sump hanging off it.

Here you can see the sump. I put the heated in there as well.

After about 3 months of cycling my live rock is doing well and the snails are cleaning the alge.

Tank after 6 months. Everything is now stable. Have some snails and a cleaner shrimp in there. Starting to think about what type of fish I want to add. Even saw a star fish baby walking around the other day. Must came in on the live rock.

I have recently added a protein skimmer into my sump. Just don't have a pic of that yet.

And the wife's fresh water tank. (Crappy pic)

Not the best pics, but they should do.

Yeah, a couple of guys I talked to lost alot of koi to raccoons and herons.

When they designed the koi pond, they made a steep drop off near the edge. That took care of the raccoons.

For the herons, some have tried motion detectors that sprayed/made noise, etc. Others used a large heron decoy. Seems like herons won't come into another heron's territory. They move around the pond periodically.

Finally got my tank going today. There are only 10 neons in there until I know the bio-sphira took.

It's weird how many things cigar smokers have in common. I have a 75 gallon drilled salt water set-up.

I'm in the process of moving from MD to NY so if anyone needs live rock or has space for a few fish and shrip in the MD area PM me.

Well I had just bought some fish last week and the bastards were sick. After some treatment (knock on wood) I think I have the tank healthy again.

I added some Purigen to my filter, man does this stuff clarify water.

I've also added a snail, he's a clean freak!
