So I have come across a 1953 Frigidaire freezer that I am converting to a humidor. I have stripped the shelves out sealed the holes with silicone. I have just picked up 8/4x6"x8' Rough cut Spanish cedar. I plan on ctting it down to 1/4 planks. My question is do I need to plane it or can I just sand it on one side (the one that will be facing the cigars) and attach it to the freezer? Is their some special reason that you need to plane it? Other than looks? And butting the boards together.
