If I had to pick, it would be Padron. I really love AF's high end lines, but their normal offerings are not anywhere near as solid as Padron's standard line.
I've smoked most of the Fuente line (including all the Casa Fuente vitolas on a pilgrimage to Casa Fuente in Vegas) and most of the Padron line, and for me it's Padron hands down - and specifically the 1964 anniversary (although if you leave the 1000 series down for about a year at 65% they give you about 85% of the 1964 for less than half the price).
Love both but probably have twice as many Fuentes than I do Padrons. But, that may be due to the broader range of blends, wrappers and sizes that Fuente offers.
The Fuente anejos are one of my favorite NC, so are the Padron 1926/64. I keep plenty of both on hand. The opus stuff I’ve smoked are great but everyone I’ve had got a tar build up and I had to keep cutting them. Haven’t had that happen with any others except the Ashton ESG.
