I need some help. I have an "Overhead Door" garage door opener with the keypad mounted outside. The code is the same as it was when I moved in and I would like to change it. The number has probably been used by countless workers, the realtor, the caretaker, and who knows who else. Does anyone know how to do this? The Overhead Door Corporation website doesn't seem to have the procedure on it.

I didn't look at the thread that Ratbert posted but our keypad is really easy. There is a unit mounted inside the garage and the keypad is connected to it via a ribbon cable. Inside the box mounted indoors there is a switch I flip, type my new code, flip it back and its done. This one is made by Genie.

thanks to ratbert for your help!
I tried the suggestions on that site but they didn't work so I went back to the company's website and found the FAQ section (it somehow eluded me before). Apparently, for this model, you have to burn incense both inside AND outside the garage, climb up the ladder and hit "learn code", then jump up and down on your left foot while pressing "send" four times, singing traditional gospel hymns, enter the old code, hit "prog", and then enter the new code and hit "prog"... all the while dressed in the garb of the native tribesmen of new guiney...
after much effort (and a spilled beer), it is re-programmed!!! I feel so safe!
thanks for your help!

I have 3 older brothers and have always gotten along better with guys... less superficial, less sensitive, more sarcastic (read "funny")etc.
I hope to get along well with y'all (the kentucky twang starts) because I am the novelty in this town of 111 (112 now, I guess) and I plan to reserve my close friends to few (a career necessity)... they gossip here like crazy!
I have already been approached by complete strangers at the post office and the grocery and they commented on my house, my property, my car, my job....
new way of living, I guess. I like it, but its new.
anyway, "rock on boys"
peace out!

I'm glad you're safer now; but dang, was it worth spillin' your beer?

(I can see right now boys, we're going to have to raise the bar on our humor here or this girl is going to leave us behind. Yuck-yucks won't cut it anymore!)

Cigar shop? unlikley! I just had my dog's food delivered by UPS! Walmart and Lowes are 1 hour away and there is almost nothing between here and there. Lots of moonshine and ammo though so we are all set! LOL:bottle: :assaultri

Man, I would get so bored living like that!

Sigh...So young.

Eventually you may get to understand that not having half a million people living on the same block is not boring. We really miss the Michigan woods.
