LOL...I know, I know. It's been a great firearm but I'm really considering simplifying my CCW choices. While the bulk is quite concealable in the ultra-thin kydex holster I have for it, I rarely carry the H&K anymore. Evidently, my medium-sized hands are far better suited to the 1911 frame. I don't think you'll have much trouble with transitioning to .45 ACP in the 1911. IIRC, the recoil impulse of .45 ACP is spread out over more time than the .40 S&W. To me, the .40 has a sharper jab to it than the the .45, which I feel as a rolling push.
