nope, theres one good thing about thyroid cancer(in the scheme of cancers)...typically you only have to have your thyroid removed and then a radioactive iodine pill which kills off the rest of the thyroid they can't remove...then they scan you..and then determine the next course of action, so for the rest of her life she'll have to be on syntheroid which duplicates the thyroid activity to the brain...but a pill a day is better than the alternative...for the next couple of years she'll get a scan once or twice a year and then figure out what happens next...

so no chemo, and much milder side effects than chemo or radiation.. :bottle:

great. i am glad to hear that she wont have to suffer thru Chemo or radiation. we all helped my mom thru that two years ago for breast cancer. best of luck, youre in my prayers.
