I've been reading a lot of negative stuff about Gurkha cigars. Which line of Gurkhas are good, well made cigars? Preferably full bodied strength. Thanks.

I agree with flyboy... I dont outright hate ghurkas.. I just think they are way overpriced for what you get when you buy them in a B&M most of the time.. there are much better options in the $8+ range (IMO)...

I dont mind the castle hall for an inexpensive, medium body/strength stick.. and occasionally will pick up a box to hand out to guys that dont smoke or to puff on when Im playing in the garage, etc.. I usually buy them when they "go on sale" for $39.99 for 20... at $2 a stick I dont whine... they are well worth that (and maybe a little more.. again IMO..)...

But "full retail" on them.... no way...

I agree with most of what has been said. There are a few decent Gurkha smokes, but the ones that you can get online for 39.99 for 15 have had draw issues from my experience.

One that I buy in B&Ms and enjoy is the Cellar Reserve. I grabbed a Churchill recently for $9 and it's a solid smoke. Maybe I will pick up a Seduction if its on sale, but other than that I use the bulk buys for infrequent smokers at work events.

Just to add what the topic asked for...
My problem is I don't take notes so I don't remember specific names. I will say some of the sticks have been stellar. I had a maduro box cut that was a great smoke. The shaggies I had were all OK. I don't remember having one and tossing it like I have some other brands. I haven't had one in close to a year since I pretty much stopped buying them online but if you handed me one i would smoke it.

There are dozens of Gurkha blends,I have smoked as many as 15 different ones. Some are decent sticks, some are bland and inoffensive.I have never had one that made me want to buy a box,I have had never had one make me vomit.
Pricing on these is the issue I have, when a company spends 15.00 on the box and 20.00 on the cigars, and then tries to get me to spend 225.00 for it,I draw the line.
Also trying to ask me to spend $90.00 for one stick in a frosted tube that has been "infused" with a super expensive Cognac is just assanine and makes me doubt the sincerity of any company doing this.
Then the company dumps its sticks at discount catalog/online sellers who are profiting when they sell you a sampler of Gurkha sticks at an average price of $3.00 per stick.
This tells me the true value of the product, and gives me a chance to decide if I want to buy them or not.
Even at $3.00 per stick,I do not buy Gurkha. My time is better spent with something I like and a stick from a company I admire and am willing to support.

Inconsistency is Gurkhas biggest issue and that goes with taste and draw as well as construction. This isn't to say that some of their line isn't good but I just don't buy them because of them being so inconsistent and pricey. The ones I have were gifted to me and I do smoke the Titan, Centurian and Beast which to me are as about as good as their top of the line cigars.

So no one has tried the Rogue yet? Maybe I will need to pick a couple up to see how they are
I tried one before it was released and it was decent. Don't know how much they are gonna be priced at but if I were going to spend money on them Id spend no more than $4 a stick at the highest.

I liked the Spec Ops, but your paying for the traveling case and knife really imo.

I also really liked the original black dragons. A cigar shop that was leasing one of my dads old buildings gave us two and we smoked them and came back to get more but she said Gurkha just gave her two? Idk if they were that real expensive release or what but they were amazing.

I have smoked maybe 3 or 4 different gurkhas and couldn't even finish them. They were horrible. This was before I started taking notes so I do t remember why they were horrible but I kept the bands in a "never smoke again" bag. Everyone's palette is different.
