their recommendation (aside from ibuprofen) was for me to get vaccinated. WTF??? poor Stef... she's gonna have a helluva week! keep her in your prayers brothers!!

Have you called other clinics or doctors to see if they can do something? I would be as pissed as you! I know it's easy to say not going through it personally, but I know multiple people including my nephew who were diagnosed with it and did just fine with no treatments. Try not to freak out in front of your daughter as it will only make it worse for her, but I'm sorry that you have to go through it!

I hope your daughter gets better soon. I'm sure she'll be just fine. A friend of our families 2 year old son had it and he's fine. The doctors and the media are whats making it scary. She'll be better in no time Jeff.

As a teacher with numerous students who had it this year, I am pretty sure there is no "treatment" for it. Just has to run it's course like the normal flu.

I know they were trying Tamiflu if they caught it real early but had minimal success.

Poor Stefi.....get well girl.

Jeff, I'll probably saying the same to you later....and it would serve you right for taunting us in the frigid East with your warm weather. :grinFU:

Seriously, get well. Both of you!!

I'm sorry to hear this, I'll be praying for her!

I really don't understand this, though--is it that your doctor won't prescribe Tamiflu for some reason, or that your insurance won't pay for it? If it's the doctor--GO TO ANOTHER ONE! If it's the insurance--just get the doctor to write the script and pay for the Tamiflu out of pocket, it's around $112.

Jeff,

I have been there. My daughter got this about 4 months ago? I know it is scary but it is no worse than regular strain flu. This is why it is no longer a news story. Less people die from it than the regular flu. MY daughter was sent home, we kept her out of school for a week, plenty of fluids, fever medicine. She is fine, no worse the wear. My other 2 girls were fine the whole time. Also, Tamiflu will not have an impact on it, it is nothing more than to lesson the severity. UNless she is having difficulty breathing on her own, at that point she needs to be in the hospital.

texas, is there anyplace else?
I won't tell you about what happened to a friend I know....That said I was exposed and took tamiflu and didn't get sick at all. I also know of people I work with that their kids get it and they take tamiflu and don't get it.
