There is not treatment, you just let it run its course like the regular flu. There's no point in even testing patients for H1N1 as it often takes a week to get the result back from when they send it out. By the time these results come back, the patient is usually cured. Give them some tamiflu and off they go. Keep hydrated and plenty of rest.

Hope for a speedy recovery for your daughter though!

thanks guys!! stayed home tonight and made my famous chicken and dumplings... well, i almost finished it. we'll have it tomorrow. lol

as for tamiflu, the dr told me that they would have to call infectious disease control and get permission to treat her,,, unless she's hospitalized. i just don't understand. oh well,,, she can't leave the house for a while....

i'll make sure she sees this thread!!

thats retarded! they told me that I had it but said it cannot be confirmed unless blood tests are sent to the county and then results will come back in 2-4 months! so they just gave me tamiflu and i was fine in 2 days... look into it

edit: looks like i was late with that, my bad. I hope she fells better soon!

oh make sure that she does not work or anything, just rest! over working your body can cause pneumonia. I don't want to scare you its just the facts. so rest and fluids are the best thing she can do.

This is excellent advice. From what I understand it's the pneumonia that people die from, not the swine flu. H1n1 is just another strain of the flu and had it been identified earlier, it would have been included in the regular seasonal flu vaccine.

Thoughts and prayers sent your way!!!

Thoughts and prayers Jeff. Lotsa chicken soup and hugs, might not be a cure but it sure can ease the heart.

Hope Stef feels better soon!!!

Good advise here & I second the statements concerning the fact that it is just another strain of the flu. Be careful, but it's nothing to get overly worried about. I have known at least a half dozen people who have had it & got through it fine, with no Tamiflu either... But I know what you mean - it's stressful anytime a family member is sick, ill or hurt.
