TBH I think it was dumb luck. we had the money and one of our wells was in need of repair so we just did all of them at once. The last i heard we are up for a new well to be drilled around February but to my knowledge the list is 2 years long. but What a lot of people don't realize is that the damage we are doing to the water table by pumping it all out of the ground is going to take years to replenish. I know that the east side of HWY 99 in Delano is starting to dry up which means that it is only a matter of time until the west side starts to.Wow not the best subject up here either. That was either foresight or extremely good luck to get those wells done. We had wells running dry everywhere here this summer and with a 6 month (at best) waiting list for a drill rig I heard of people offering $20k in cash to be put at the front of the line. Which compared to losing an orchard is cheap. Hope for rain is all we can do. And again welcome.
@sullen : Sullen showed me the way so I am over here alsoHey @sullen nice to see you over here. All I hope is that this site is more reliable. As far as the "Cotton Candy" well I am Biased and well have nothing good to say about them. They are a gimmick but yes they do have a flavor that resembles cotton candy however that flavor is not consistent throughout a bunch and IMO it is a horrible grape. I like grapes that taste like grapes, that are refreshing and that you can eat a whole bunch without getting a stomach ache..... but by all means go and try a few if you get a chance I know that T.M. Kovacevich in Hunts Point Produce market has them in stock because they had half a truck load when they picked up from our storage. They should be a little more affordable there. I know at the one local store that sells them sells them for $10/lb which I am sorry I would never pay for grapesI think you'll find this place much more pleasing than the 4th reich over there....
So tell us some more about these flavored grapes (cotton candy and whatnot) scam or are they as good as they sound....?
Oh water... that is a sore subject, since we got 0% of our municipal allotment. Lucky for us last year we retrofitted and lowered all of our wells so we had enough to salvage the season however it did take a toll on our overall quality and volume. I would say that as of right now we are behind last year by about 150,000 casesWelcome from Central Cal. I am not directly in the dirt anymore but I do work for a place that supplies the farmers with water. You manage to keep your grapes alive this year down there? Bet it was tough or at the very least expensive.
I am glad I made it over. I love the feel of this place. I can't wait to have some free time to get to know all the guys over here.@sullen : Sullen showed me the way so I am over here alsoHey @sullen nice to see you over here.
