Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around the Forum for a couple of weeks now and really like what I've seen, so I decided it was time to join this great communtiy.

My name is Rick, and I live in Austria. I'm originally from Atlanta but have lived outside the States since the 80's. I've been smoking Cigars off and on for about 8 or 9 years, but got serious about it almost 5 years ago. Being in Austria, naturally I've smoked more than my fair share of CC's but as of late my intrests have moved away from Cuba (not that I don't enjoy a good CC) to the rest of the Cigar producing world. My voyage of discovery is hampered by the fact that our selection of NC's in Austria is very limited and sometimes way more expensive than CC's. I started looking towards the US and some Forums to try and find out more about all the NC's out there.

I am a member of another US Forum (sponsored by a well known Cigar Mag.) and have picked up some great tips but they seem to be more CC centered. In my search I found the BOTL Forum and was pleased with what I saw, you guys (and gals) seem to talk more about NC's and there seems to be a lot more civility between members.

I'm looking forward to becoming a member of your community, exchanging views and opinions and lastly... I hope to learn lots about NC CIgars...
Welcome,

I get the same problems here in switzerland. if it aint cuban, it aint worth smoking. I buy my NC online

Ahh, you're down south. I'm from PA originally but living in Germany as a Defense Contractor since '03. Any good lounges down in your area?

Unfortunatly not...no Lounges or even real Cigar Shops because of the F'd Up Government Tobacco Monopoly here in Austria. We are one of the most expensive places in Europe to buy Cigars and we have a selection of about 1/3 of what you get in Germany...On the other Hand we still have very Tobacco friendly Smoking Laws and you can find many "Cigar Friendly " establishments. If you can afford to buy them, at least you can still Smoke'm.

I'd take friendlier smoking laws over selection. I don't get down to Austria. If you come up this way, definately let me know and I'll show you the scene up here.
