If you want a top level education system, good roads (to an extent) and other programs, you have to pay for them. Maryland, unlike most states also has a balanced budget amendment. Unlike VA (and most of it's counties, where most of the taxes actually lie) and many other 'low tax states', Maryland is forced to pay for whatever expenses they pay for up front. There's no kicking the can down the road like many other states have and continue to do.
It's not worth getting in a political debate on this forum, but suffice to say, there are way worse places to live. The quality of life is high, the amenities are decent, and it's a great area to live with DC, Ocean City, Philly and parts of VA so close. If you want mountains, Maryland has them (though they're small). If you want beach, there's a beach. If you want to live in a City, it's great. If you want to live in the country, suburbs, you name it, Maryland has it.
If you want to hunt, fish, drag race, numerous sports teams, you name it. Taxes are everywhere, and sure, they're high, but what you get for it, it's not awful.
Whatever, this forum isn't for that, it's for enjoying cigars.
