We're starting a new company that I'll be heading up. It's a window replacement business that will be selling and installing the Infinity window from Marvin.
We know all the what, where and how the business will be set up and run but the hard part is coming up with a good name. We will be a straight-shooting, no nonsense, no gimmick outfit. Many of these type of companies are like car dealers with the gimmicks their tinmen come up with and we want to seperate ourselves from that crowd.
I had one picked out but it turns out that it's already in use in the local market.

What I'm looking for is something that is short (few syllables), easy for customers to remember and implies/instills confidence in our ability. It needs to speak about the company itself as we cannot use the product in our name. In light of that I'm trying to stay away from names like Endurance Windows because that sounds like a product. I also don't like tacky or cutesy names like Window Overhaulers, We Do Windows or Wintopia.

To give you an idea of what I feel would be a good one, the name I came up with was WindowSmith. It's got the short, sweet, easy to remember elements and puts me in mind of focused craftsmanship (blacksmith, goldsmith, silversmith) and old time experience and ability.
Think about your own home and having a salesman call on you to give you a price for replacing your windows. What kind of name would appeal to you?

If someone can come up with a name that I can feel good about and sell to the partners there'll be a nice cigar reward coming your way!

WindowRx :dunno:

When I was a kid I aspired to having my own window washing gig in New York...you know, cleaning the sky scrapers.

I was going to call it Window Waschers. :hysterica

I was like five years old.

Have you thought about going with acronyms for the name, that will give you alot more to pick from.

All Seasons Window. Added bonus, A is listed toward the top in the phone book. Most folks go top to bottom looking. All seasons says a lot. OR All Weather Windows (AWW)

I'm seeing some great stuff here! Keep em coming!

Tripp: I meant no offense by that. I was only referring to some of the things some dealers do like going back and forth to the manager when the salesman knows darn well what he can sell the car for. Some window outfits do that. They have their salespeople call the manager from the customers house to go back and forth on "deals". Another gimmick is to offer like a $90 window trade-in on the old windows. The old ones are of no value to anyone and go straight into the dumpster. They simply mark the price per window up $90 and then take it back off to make people think they're getting something.
