I have been using crystal kitty litter for about 10 years and have not noticed that effect nor have I noticed any change in flavor.

I have noticed that over time though that the kitty litter itself begins to take on the smell of the cigars so maybe there is something to it removing the scent of the cigars?
Interesting. I chickened out and switched to RH shield.

So, put in 10 and then remove 8 ??

what if the cigars need to lose moisture ?

you might need to reconsider, or watch your stash swell up and burst........:arghh::cat::chicken::banghead:
Perhaps you're not totally familiar with how Bovedas work @Nacho Daddy?

Boveda packs employ a two-way system that not only adds moisture but will also absorb it if the cigars are over humidified. Having extras in there would only help to remove excess moisture and get them to the desired RH faster.

Every so often I will dip one of those cheap humidor pucks in some distilled water and let it dry. Then put it in a freezer bag with my boveda packs. After a few days they are good as new!
