I know for sure that there's a batch or three of the herf XL that are manufacturer defects. Returning the three I bought for the second time. Top half is perfect and the bottom half looks like it's frowning.

Also, if you're wondering if your herf box has a good seal there's no need for a light test. If the lid doesn't leave an impression in the gasket all the way around lip of the box return it immediately. And keep returning it until you get one that does.
